Biography

I LOVE all things teaching and learning! I used to play school in my neighborhood growing up. I even taught my little sister how to read before she attended kindergarten. After becoming a teacher, I took some time off to stay at home with my children. I really enjoyed homeschooling my children for many years with my husband who is a retired United States Marine. Since returning to the classroom, I have taught Pre-K through the 6th grade. A few of my professional areas of concentration and developing expertise include standards-based learning, providing differentiated instruction for struggling learners, and social/emotional learning for all students.
When I am not in the classroom you can find me hanging out with my family, playing with my puppy, hiking, singing, and enjoying long car trips. I am a passionate reading enthusiast who gets more excited from receiving Kindle book gift cards than chocolate! I also enjoy watching airplane traffic patterns, roller blading, American Sign Language, and sampling my youngest daughter's awesome homemade peanut butter cookies. YUMMY!

Biography

I am from Sonora and Bakersfield California, and am excited to get to know the Galt and Lodi community. My parents and three younger siblings are living in Sonora and are happy that I am quite a bit closer than Walla Walla University in Washington where I recently graduated! I enjoyed my time student-teaching in 5th grade, and am looking forward to working with our newest 3rd/4th graders.
I love pickleball, tennis, spikeball, volleyball, basketball, working out, and the clarinet. I also enjoy hanging out with my cat, Honey Lemon, though I'm not sure she enjoys my company quite as much! I am happiest in the company of my family and friends and am looking forward to getting to know you and our community!

Biography

Proverbs 4:7 states, “Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” This verse, a favorite of mine, expresses what I have spent my life doing. Wisdom and understanding have always been of supreme importance to me. I have spent my time as a junior educator urging students to prioritize their acquisition above all else.

My foray into education began with my career as a United States Marine. The Marine Corps fostered a very robust mentoring and education program which seemed to always put me in a position to teach senior and junior Marines concerning my fields of expertise in telecommunications and Information Security/communications intelligence whenever needed.

Some time after retiring from the Marine Corps I was hired for my first teaching position as an art teacher for a homeschool cooperative in Portland Oregon; a fortuitous placement, as years prior to joining the Marine Corps I had acquired an associate’s degree in graphic design which served me well in the position. It was such a natural fit that teaching became my new calling.

My wife, a teacher and principal herself, has been very instrumental in my teaching career encouraging me to continue in education.

When I am not teaching or helping my wife in every capacity at Galt Adventist School I can be found cooking, reading, drawing, working out at the gym, maintaining our cars, singing, or playing the guitar. I’ve also been known to build and repair computers, teach archery, and do a little photography. Oh, lest I forget, I have an undying passion for mathematics.

Education

Highest Degree: AS in Business Administration Accounting
College Where Earned: Riverside City College

Biography

I received an AS in Business Administration Accounting from Riverside City College. Before moving to Galt, I worked as a staff accountant: processing payroll, preparing tax returns and bookkeeping. In 2013 I moved to Galt and began working as a payroll specialist, which I did for 5 years until just after my twin boys were born. I love working with children and greatly enjoy being a teacher's assistant to Mrs. Willis.
I love being a mother and spending time with my family. I am also a horse person and have a mustang that I adopted in 2012 and trained myself. I love to take my boys to the ranch, where he lives here in Galt, and they are currently learning to ride. I also enjoy baking and my boys love it when I bake too.
